If you would like to visit Bamburgh Castle you can purchase tickets in advance from their website. Due to its high position on the coastline there can be restrictions due to weather in the winter months so it is always worth checking before you go.
RNLI Grace Darling Museum
The RNLI Grace Darling Museum in Northumberland offers an inspiring journey into the life of one of Britain’s most celebrated heroines, Grace Darling. The museum showcases the incredible story of her daring sea rescue in 1838, when she and her father saved nine shipwrecked survivors. Visitors can explore fascinating exhibits, including the original lifeboat and personal belongings of Grace Darling, gaining insight into her bravery and the history of sea rescue. A visit to this museum is a must for history lovers and anyone moved by tales of courage and compassion.
The museum is free to visit and is open Monday to Fridays from 10.00am until 5.00pm.
Bamburgh Ossuary
The Bamburgh Ossuary offers a fascinating and poignant glimpse into the ancient past of Northumberland. Discovered beneath St. Aidan’s Church, this hidden crypt houses the carefully curated remains of over 100 individuals, dating back to the 7th and 8th centuries. Thought to be early residents of the Bamburgh area, the ossuary provides a unique window into the region’s medieval history.
The crypt is open daily from 10.00am until 5.00pm. When you visit, please take care going down the steps and be aware it is quite dark inside the crypt.
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club

Seahouses
Only a 5 minute drive along the coastline Seahouses is a vibrant fishing village on the Northumberland coast. It is the perfect way to explore the stunning Farne Islands and their wildlife, including puffins and grey seals. A huge attraction to Seahouses is its boat trips to The Farne Islands, where you can see puffins during spring and summer, grey seal colonies and an array of other wildlife throughout the year. You can pre-book trips with boat companies such as Billy Shiel and Serenity boat trips, or simply walk to the harbour and book your trip at one of the huts there.
Holy Island
Holy Island of Lindisfarne, located off the Northumberland coast, is a magical destination steeped in history and natural beauty. Accessible only by a tidal causeway, this peaceful island offers visitors a chance to explore the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the birthplace of the Lindisfarne Gospels, and the striking Lindisfarne Castle perched high on a hill. You can access Holy Island via car, by foot or cycle via the causeway. Please note that the causeway is only passable when the tide is out. A full timetable for when you can cross can be found here. Please note it is very important you follow these guidelines and are aware of the changing weather conditions whilst visiting the island.
